Assistance for Uninhabitable Housing in Muara Enim
The implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Partnership and Community Development (PKBL) programs by companies operating in Muara Enim Regency remains very limited. Out of 72 business entities with an annual turnover exceeding IDR 1 billion—spread across nearly all sub-districts in Muara Enim Regency—only 20 companies have submitted their CSR-PKBL realization reports for the first semester of 2025. The Head of the Muara Enim Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), Drs. H. Emran Tabrani, M.Si., stated that as of September 19, 2025, the realized CSR-PKBL funding from these 20 companies totaled IDR 44.6 billion. "We express our gratitude and appreciation for the participation, involvement, and excellent cooperation shown toward the development of Muara Enim Regency," said Emran during a coordination meeting between the Muara Enim Regency Government and the business sector—facilitated by the CSR-PKBL Forum—held at Balai Agung Serasan Sekundang on Monday, September 22, 2025.
Furthermore, Emran explained that each year, the Muara Enim Regency Government proposes initiatives—derived from the Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbang) process—that cannot be funded through the regional budget (APBD) or other non-APBD regional work plans (RKPD). These initiatives are offered to state-owned enterprises (BUMN), private companies (BUMS), and regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD) to be adopted as part of their CSR-PKBL programs within their respective operational areas. "We hope that every company will use these as a reference when drafting their CSR-PKBL activity proposals," he said.
Additionally, Emran noted that since 2023, the Muara Enim Regency Government has initiated a collaborative movement involving all stakeholders: the local government, the business sector, and the community. "This collaboration optimizes the role of the Muara Enim Regency CSR-PKBL Forum through a 'Thematic CSR' movement, aimed at accelerating development in the 'Bumi Serasan Sekundang' region," he added. Emran added that, through the established development theme, it is hoped that CSR programs implemented by the business sector will become more focused and targeted toward addressing existing development challenges in Muara Enim Regency.
For 2025, the Muara Enim Regency Government—through a collaborative "Gotong Royong" (mutual cooperation) initiative involving the local government, the business sector, and other stakeholders—is focusing on the renovation of substandard housing (*Rumah Tidak Layak Huni* or RTLH). "We strongly hope for the support and commitment of the business sector to assist in addressing substandard housing for low-income residents in Muara Enim Regency, with a target of renovating 2,000 housing units," he concluded. Meanwhile, the Regent of Muara Enim, H. Edison, S.H., M.Hum., expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the participation of the business sector, particularly those that have played a role in helping the Muara Enim Regency Government improve the welfare of the community. "The role of the business sector is vital to the development process in Muara Enim Regency," said Edison. Furthermore, Edison expressed his hope that companies that have already contributed will continue to increase and maximize their efforts. "To those in the business sector who have yet to participate, we urge and invite you to fulfill your obligations through CSR programs," he concluded.
